Created back in 1930. The founder of this brand is considered to be a young businessman - Aristide Merloni. Initially, he could only afford a small factory. Scales were mainly produced there. However, in Italy they were in great demand. Today, water heaters have very good reviews. The first models appeared in 1950. At the same time, work on the production of gas cylinders was going on.
In 1970, the management of the company was completely changed. As a result, various divisions began to appear. They were mainly engaged in the production of plumbing. In 1986, the subsidiaries of this company were located almost all over the world. She became a real leader in 2001. This event was influenced by her "absorption" by the big German. In order for everyone to have the opportunity to repair Ariston water heaters, the company has opened many service centers.
Advantages of water heaters "Ariston"
The capacity of Ariston water heaters is quite substantial. The average heating time is 3.7 hours. Among the features, a magnesium anode and a check valve can be distinguished. Thermometers are available in all models. In installation, Ariston water heaters are quite simple. In general, the range of these products is very large. All this makes it possible to always choose the appropriate option. An overheating protection system is installed. The water heaters have a reliable housing. Additionally, the good design of the models should be noted. Thanks to all these qualities, people talk about only in a positive way. Water heaters also have excellent reviews.
What are the downsides?
First of all, it is necessary to highlight the poor quality of thermal insulation. It is made in most cases from polyurethane foam. In some situations, the magnesium anode can deteriorate. In this case, the water heater will have to be taken to a service center for repair. The tank can withstand a lot of pressure, but in early models, the safety valve may fail. The average maximum working pressure is 7 bar. If the product is not under warranty, then repairing Ariston water heaters is expensive. Last but not least, the high cost of many models can be noted.
Thermex 80 S - heats the water all the time?
Hello everybody!
Could you please help shed some light on the next problem. Recently I bought a Thermex 80 S water heater. And it seems that it heats the water all the time. The installation was done by a local service center.
So what happened.
After installation, after 12 hours of operation, the metal-plastic pipe tore off the cold fitting, which was screwed to the safety valve. (The safety valve is screwed, respectively, to the cold water heater inlet). The pipe was not just ripped off, but first tore in one place, and only then tore off.
After the breakdown, steam with boiling water flew out of the cold nipple. The tank was completely filled with water, so that the entire 80 liters of pressure poured out onto the floor. The masters called from the service center could not explain why this happened, they simply installed a new metal-plastic cold pipe and advised to keep the water heater constantly turned off, and turn it on before you need to do something.
Naturally, this does not suit me, because everywhere in the documentation it is written that the water heater must work constantly, on the machine.
After the specialists left, I waited until the tank warmed up (3-4 hours) and the indicator light went out. Then he turned off the water heater (turned off the machine, which was brought out into the corridor).
After a few hours, I turned on the machine again. The light on the water heater did not light up (apparently the water temperature almost did not drop).However, the water heater began to make noise as quietly as it makes when heating water. I turned off the machine. The noise stopped after a few seconds. Turned it on again - the heater began to make a quiet noise again. In this case, the control lamp does not light up.
One gets the impression that the water heater does not heat at all when the thermocouple commands it, but all the time. Even if the regulator (white wheel) is turned closest to the (MIN-) designation, the water heats up to a terrible boiling water, and I, out of fear that the water will boil and tear off the pipe again, turn off the water heater. (The neighbors on ARISTON, with this position of the regulator, have just warm water).
Questions:
- How can you check what's really going on? Are there methods that will allow you to unambiguously determine whether the spiral is heating at the moment or not?
- Can you rely on the red indicator light? Is it really included in the circuit so that it ignites only when there is current in the heating coil? Or is it turned on simply through a thermocouple, and the heating coil through some other circuit (for example, through a thyristor controlled by a thermocouple, then when the thyristor breaks down, the thermocouple will not be able to control it, and the heater will keep heating up all the time)?
- Is the quiet noise of a water heater (like an electric kettle before boiling) an indication that the water is heating up?
Secrets of choosing a quality model
First of all, you should decide on the capacity of the water heater. On average, this parameter fluctuates around 1500 W. Mechanical control is more reliable. In this case, temperature indicators can be digital. However, such models will cost much more. Next, you should look at the time for heating the water. An 80 liter tank will usually heat up within three hours. The voltage of the device must be at least 230 V. The working pressure is encouraged at 8 bar.
Next, you need to pay attention to the operating temperature. Typically, water is capable of heating up to 75 degrees. The protection system must be of class ABC. In this case, you can count on the safe use of the water heater. A safety valve must be included in the kit. With a tank volume of 80 liters, the heater should be approximately 120 mm high, 35 mm wide and 40 mm deep. At the same time, a device with such dimensions weighs in the region of 25 kg.
How much energy does an instantaneous water heater consume?
For the calculation, we will take the same indicators: water consumption per day is 50 liters. Consider the performance of the device: the power of a simple water heater is 4 kW / h, so 2 liters of warm water can be produced per minute. It takes 25 minutes to heat 50 liters of water. Electricity consumption per day will be as follows: 0.42 * 4 = 1.68 kW. The water will heat up to about 50 ° C. 50.4 kW are consumed per month. This figure is much less than that of a storage boiler. But it should be borne in mind that the heating temperature is much lower for an instantaneous water heater. Thus, such a device for heating water will be much cheaper. Many people claim that an instantaneous water heater consumes more electricity than a storage water heater. Based on the calculations, we can conclude that this is not the case.
Using a mathematical equation, you can express the formula for calculating: the amount of water is divided by the throughput and multiplied by the power and we get the indicator per day.
When using the boiler, do not forget about the safety rules: do not touch the device connected to the network with wet hands, and also do not wipe the surface of the device with a wet cloth during its operation.
Reviews about the model "Ariston SG 80"
This water heater "Ariston" (80 liters) has good reviews. Many buyers love this model for its excellent power. This indicator is at the level of 1500 watts. The regulator in the water heater is mechanical.At the same time, it is controlled quite simply. A mechanical temperature indicator is also provided. In general, it works fine, and there are no complaints about it. The average time for heating the water in the tank is 3.7 hours. There are better models, however, due to the affordable cost, this installation is popular from. A water heater, prices for which may differ depending on the region, costs on average around 6,000 rubles.
It is important to know
Electricity consumption for water heating depends on four factors:
- The temperature of cold water that enters the boiler;
- Boiler heat loss;
- Water consumption per day;
- Hot water outlet temperature.
If you want to determine how many kW your water heater will wind per day or month, you need to know these numbers.
Are you just going to buy a boiler and want to calculate its electricity consumption? You can use simplified numbers:
- Average temperature of cold water: + 5 ... + 10 degrees;
- Boiler heat loss: 0.008-0.0012 kW per 1 liter of water;
- Water consumption per day: calculate the consumption of hot water per month and divide by 30;
- Average hot water temperature: 60 degrees.
Separately, I would like to note that it is not recommended to heat water below +55 degrees. Because of this, microorganisms can develop in it, an unpleasant odor will appear in the water from the boiler.
Opinion about "Ariston R 80 V"
This storage water heater "Ariston" deserves only positive reviews. This model is distinguished by a good overheating protection system. The temperature regulator is of open type. In this case, the indicator is mechanical. In general, it is clearly visible and it works properly. The voltage indicator is 230 V. The maximum pressure of the water heater can only withstand 7 bar. In this case, the operating temperature is 75 degrees. For additional protection, manufacturers have installed an enlarged anode. Among other things, the heating rate can be characterized on the positive side. The flange in the water heater is installed quite reliable. It is mounted on five bolts.

Consumer reviews of the "Ariston SG-50R" model
Basically, this water heater "Ariston" (80 liters) is characterized on the positive side. The parameters of this model are simply wonderful. The rated power of the device is 1550 W. In this case, the inlet pressure is 8 atmospheres. The rated voltage of the network is 220 V. Of the features, automatic shutdown should be highlighted.
All this allows the owner to save a lot of energy. Switching on in the water heater also occurs in automatic mode. At the same time, the temperature in the tank is always maintained at the required level. The turn-on indicator is provided by the manufacturer. There is a mechanical control. The inner lining of the tank consists of finely dispersed enamel.
Is an instantaneous water heater profitable?
Flow-type water heaters are most often used to heat water in country houses. Such equipment is easy to install on your own. The main disadvantage of the instantaneous water heater is its short service life - 5 years.
The water heats up when water comes in. The power of the device does not depend on the water pressure. Typically, a water heater provides warm water that can be used to wash dishes or take an outdoor shower. Due to some peculiarities, such a device is not suitable for taking a bath. It is recommended to install an electrical plug, socket and separate electrical cable. This is necessary in order not to reboot the main network.
A flow-through water heater can have a power of 3-27 kW. For two people, a 10 kW device is suitable. For a large family, it is better to choose a water heater with a capacity of 20 to 25 kW.
Before buying, you should read the instructions, since some water heaters need 380 V.
An instantaneous water heater must be grounded, since it is installed on a metal mixer.
Model "Ariston POWER 50"
Unfortunately, water heaters "Ariston 50" have more negative reviews. The body of this model is rather weak. It is made entirely of plastic. The water in the tank heats up for a very long time. This is largely due to the low power parameter. The maximum heating temperature is 70 degrees. The general frequency of the device is 50 Hz at a voltage of 220 V. The connection of the water heater is provided for hydraulic. Of the advantages, a good thermometer can be noted. In general, this model is not the best.
How much electricity does an average boiler consume?
The water heater is accompanied by technical documentation, which indicates all the values of the equipment. Let's take the average value to calculate the electricity. This requires the following values:
- The number of kilowatts that the water heater consumes during heating and maintaining the water temperature;
- The amount of hot water consumed per day in liters or cubic meters.
Consider an example for a 50 liter boiler. First of all, you should determine how long it takes to heat the water in the water heater. The minimum temperature is usually 70 ° C. It takes about 2 hours to heat the water to the desired temperature. To maintain a comfortable temperature, the heating cycle takes place 2 times a day for 2 hours. The technical documentation indicates the power consumption in operating mode: 2 kW per hour. Based on the calculation, we get 4 kW per day.
In addition, do not forget about the "Heating" mode. 4 kW is required to be divided by the number of hours that are not involved in water heating. Thus, 4 kW / 12 = 0.3 kW per day. The total amount of electricity consumed by a 50 liter boiler: 4 + 0.3 = 4.3 kW. For 30 days, 129 kW is consumed. To calculate the cost of payment, you need to know the tariffs for each region.
Reviews of "Ariston POWER 100"
Many people liked this model. It was released relatively recently. Her characteristics are just wonderful. The rated power of the device is as much as 1600 watts. In this case, the operating frequency is at 60 Hz. The heating time for a full tank is only 2.8 hours. Management in this model is provided for electronic.
The inner tank is made of steel. At the same time, there is a sputtering of silver on it. The maximum water heating temperature is 80 degrees. Magnesium anode available. Additionally, a high-quality anti-freeze system should be noted. In case of a fault in the insulation network, the water heater is turned off in an emergency state. The thermometer is digital. In general, it is very comfortable to use. The heating level indicator looks pretty nice. The maximum pressure can withstand 9 bar. As a result, the model turned out to be expensive, but very high quality. Its cost in the store fluctuates around 15,000 rubles.

Capacity of boilers of different sizes
If there are more people in the family, you need to increase these numbers by the required number of times
The performance of the water heater depends on the amount of hot water that the family will consume per day.
To calculate it, you need to determine the number of water intake points. For example, a 30-50 liter tank will be enough for one person to wash dishes, wash their face and take a shower.
If there are more people in the family, you need to increase these numbers by the required number of times. Thus, a family of 4 will consume 120 to 150 liters of water daily. Based on this, you need to choose the volume and power of the boiler, as well as calculate the energy costs.
It is not recommended to set the temperature more than 50-55 °, this will help reduce electricity consumption, and also avoid the formation of scale on the heating element and other parts.
50 liters
The capacity of an average storage boiler with a volume of up to 50 liters is 1.5-2 kW / h. Electricity consumption directly depends on the operating time of the device. With such indicators, the water will warm up for about 2 hours. That is, the daily consumption of electricity will be 3-4 kW, which is equal to 90-120 kilowatts per month.
80 liters
If the amount of water consumed increases to 80 l / day, then a boiler with the appropriate tank volume and a capacity of 3-4 kW is needed.
Heating time will increase to 3-3.5 hours. Energy consumption per day will be from 9 to 14 kW.
100 liters
For a family of 3 people, a tank of 100 liters or more will be required. The performance of such devices is 2-3 kW, and the water can be heated from 3.5 to 5 hours. In such a situation, the water heater will consume about 300 kW per month.
"Ariston VLS PW 100"
The reviews for this model are mostly good. There are pluses in it, as well as obvious disadvantages. Among the advantages are good power and control. A clear drawback is the quality of the heating element. In some cases, it fails, and the water heater has to be repaired. In all other respects, buyers have no complaints. The device holds the maximum pressure well. At the same time, the safety valve is installed reliably.
Overheating protection class is available. Among other things, manufacturers have provided the functions "Fast" and "Eco". The shape of the tank is flat, so it takes up little space on the wall. The heat loss indicator is small. All this allows you to save quite a lot on electricity. Of the features, the autodiagnostics system can be distinguished. At the slightest malfunction, the water heater turns off itself.
Selection features
When buying a water heater for 80 liters, the following parameters must be taken into account:
- Machine power... It is defined as the total capacity of the installed heating elements. This parameter sets the heating time and water temperature. For the devices under consideration, it can be in the range of 1-4 kW. When choosing, it should be borne in mind that excessive power leads to unnecessary energy costs. For a volume of 80 liters, the optimal value is 1.2-2 kW.
- Power grid parameters... The devices can be produced with the expectation of a conventional, single-phase network with a voltage of 220 V or a three-phase line for 380 V. In the latter case, the power increases, but a connection to the house of such a line is required.
- Internal tank lining... Hot water dramatically accelerates the oxidation process (corrosion) of the boiler. An inner coating is used to increase its durability and improve water quality. An economical option is glass-ceramic or enamel coating. Stainless steel tanks have a longer service life, but they increase the cost of the apparatus. The most expensive method (used in premium models) is titanium sputtering.
- Heating element type... There are 2 options: wet and dry cell. The cheaper version is located directly in the water, which simplifies the design, but breaks down faster. Dry heating element is located in a special flask that protects against direct contact with the liquid.It has an increased service life and increased electrical safety, but it costs much more.
- electrical safety... It is determined by the degree of protection. For most dry, residential areas, an IP23 rated device is sufficient. For a bath or a bathroom, it is necessary to choose an EVN with a class of at least IP44.
- Control system... In modern EVN, electromechanical or electronic control is used. The mechanical option is cheaper and easier to service, but some features are not available. The electronics are characterized by precise control, convenient display and additional options.
When choosing the right model, you should also pay attention to the additional capabilities of the device.... The required function is protection against overheating and against switching on without water.
Good indication on the display allows you to control the mode.
IMPORTANT!
Modern devices are also capable of providing such options: accelerated heating, economic mode (eco-mode), protection against water freezing, connection to the heating system, "warm floor" or "smart home", filtration and disinfection of water, remote control and delayed switching on.

Electricity consumption
Electricity quantity
How many kilowatts does a boiler consume per month? This should be known to those who have already installed the heater or are just going to do it.
Electricity consumption for heating water depends on many factors:
- The temperature of cold water entering the heater.
- Heat loss of the water heater.
- Water consumption per day.
- Hot water outlet temperature indicator.
The average temperature of cold water before entering the water heater ranges from five to ten degrees. The average heat loss of the boiler is in the range of 0.007 - 0.0011 kW per one liter of water. To find out how much water will be consumed per day, you need to divide the hot water consumption by the number of days in a month.
Despite the desire to save money, experts advise not to heat the water in the boiler below fifty-five degrees. A repulsive odor often develops. This is due to the fact that pathogenic microflora can begin to develop in the liquid, this will negatively affect the state of health.
Storage water heater
In standby mode, the water heater also consumes electricity, it is aimed at compensating for heat loss. The technical data sheet for each boiler model indicates the amount of heat loss. They can be indicated in percentages, kilowatts.

How much energy does the coffee machine consume
Let's try to calculate the approximate electricity consumption of the boiler. For example, the heat loss of equipment is half a percent per hour. Let's imagine that a family needs two hundred liters of water. The temperature of cold water at the inlet is ten degrees, and at the outlet - fifty-five.
To find out how many kW a boiler consumes, simple calculations should be made. It is generally accepted that 1.16 W is required to heat water one degree.The formula for calculating electricity consumption is simple: you need to multiply 0.0016 kilowatts by the amount of hot water per day and multiply by the difference between the water at the outlet and cold water at the inlet. The figures obtained are the number of kilowatts required to heat water.
In our example, we get the following result - 14.4 kW. This is the number of consumed kilowatts per day. To calculate the resource consumption per month, gently multiply the amount spent in one day by thirty. It turns out four hundred thirty-two kilowatts per month. The calculation, taking into account the heat loss equal to 0.5, will give the following result: the consumption of kilowatts per day is 16, 13 kW. Multiplying the number by the number of days in the month, we get the final result.
Now let's try to calculate how much the flow heater consumes.
This version of the heater is recommended for installation mainly for household needs.
Flow-through heaters are directly connected to the mixer and do not depend on the water pressure in the central pipeline. It is worth noting that the outlet water does not always meet the needs. In the documentation for the heater, the temperature is most often indicated, which must be summed up with the input values. Consumption depends on the frequency and intensity of use of the heater. With moderate use, the consumption does not exceed one hundred kilowatts per month.
Let's summarize. To calculate the electricity consumption of a storage water heater, it is important to obtain the following information:
- Find out how much water is consumed daily.
- Find out how much electricity the device consumes per hour of operation.
- Perform mathematical calculations by multiplying the results obtained by the number of days in a month.
It should be remembered that the power consumption of different devices can vary significantly. The amount of energy consumption will be influenced by the frequency and intensity of use of heating equipment.
It is possible and necessary to reduce the size of payments for electricity.
Flow heater.
There are a number of guidelines to help you adjust costs.
- Find out how long it takes for the boiler to cool down. Provided that you are away from home for this period of time or longer, it is advisable to drain the water and turn off the device.
- Check the thermal insulation of the device case. If the top of the water heater is warm, it has insulation errors. Additional insulation should be installed.
- Installing an indirect heater will help to significantly save on electricity bills. The water will be heated from the heating system and will enter the boiler already warm.
- If the water heater is equipped with a timer and controller, program it to turn on for a specific time before your return and turn it off for the duration of your absence.
- Monitor the state of the heating element. If it has deposits of limescale, the efficiency of the appliance decreases and the energy consumption increases significantly.
