Varieties of electric boilers

The electric boiler is presented on the market with a wide variety of products. The differences between them are as follows:

  • The number of contours. Like other types of heaters, an electric boiler can be single and double-circuit. A single-circuit boiler has a slightly higher output power, since it does not provide for operation with hot water supply.
  • Heating element type. It can be a heating element, an electrode or an induction coil (inverter).
  • Coolant type. Some single-circuit heater models use antifreeze.

In addition to the plumbing connection of the electric boiler (piping), the most important task when installing an electric boiler is to correctly connect the electric boiler. As they say, this work should be done by professionals, but information on this issue will be useful to you.

  • For an electric boiler, you need to allocate a separate power line from the input-distribution board of your house;
  • The boiler power supply line must be protected by a circuit breaker with a rated operating current slightly higher than the operating current of the electric boiler at maximum mode (this data is in the boiler passport);
  • The body of the electric boiler must be grounded by the third (220 V) or fifth (380 V) wire in the power supply cable. For the earthing of the electric boiler, separate earthing wires must not be used;

In the input distribution device (ASU) of the house or the electrical panel of the house, the boiler power cable is connected as follows:


  • The phase wires of the power supply L1; L2; L3 are connected to the output terminals of the three-phase circuit breaker. The circuit breaker is separate, only for the electric boiler.
  • Zero working wire (N) is connected to the zero bus (terminal block) of the shield;
  • The ground wire is connected to a separate bus in the switchboard marked "Ground".
  • With a single-phase (220 volt) power supply to the boiler, the three-pole circuit breaker changes to a single-pole one. The rest of the connections remain unchanged.

Important! Do not confuse and do not combine the connection of the zero working (N) and grounding, protective (PE) wires for three-wire and five-wire connection of the electric boiler.

The principle of operation of electric boilers

The work algorithm is simple. First, the coolant is supplied to the expansion tank. It is then heated by electrical energy and then sent to the system.

Piping and first start-up of a three-phase boiler

When the arrow enters this sector, unscrew the cock on the relief valve (installed in the upper part) and completely bleed the air. When water flows without bubbles, it is closed. This will cause the pressure in the tank to drop. Wait until it grows and then bleed the air again.

Then proceed directly to the start-up. To do this, include a gas station. The power lamp on the indicator of the device will light up and digital data on the water temperature will appear.

Pressing the arrow buttons (+ and -) controls the amount of used kW and the water pressure in the boiler. The Mode and OK buttons allow you to program the temperature and power consumption in kW.

After the set temperature has been reached, the pump starts functioning and the heating element turns on. All that remains is to close the lid and enjoy the quiet and fast work. The boiler is stopped by pressing a button with a minus sign and a complete reset of the set temperature.

How to connect a gas generator to a gas boiler

First of all, when connecting a gasoline generator to the boiler, you need to carefully read the technical documentation of the generator and boiler and strictly follow it.

It is imperative to ground both the generator and the heating boiler. This is necessary not only to ensure electrical safety, but also so that a pronounced "zero" appears in the generator. Without this, the boiler flame detection system may not work.
