Pipe production methods
Stainless steel pipes are a derivative of rolled metal products. Based on the production method, the following types of stainless steel pipes are distinguished:
- Hot deformed;
- Cold-deformed;
- Heat-deformed;
Products can be produced from flat-rolled products, which are subjected to technological bending and subsequent welding. In this way, welded pipes are obtained. For seamless pipes, a stainless circle is used as the starting material, and in this case, piercing, rolling and calibration are used in the manufacture of the pipe. Seamless stainless steel pipe as a single piece has increased strength and high mechanical properties.
Dimensions and weight of stainless steel pipes according to GOST
At the present time, stainless steel pipes are actively used in construction. Their diameter depends on several factors - the manufacturer's company, manufacturing method, wall thickness. In addition, it affects the parameters of the pipes and the purpose for which they will be used. Diameter is the length between the outer edges of the pipe. This distance is equal to two radii.

Such an indicator is measured in millimeters and is indicated by a special sign?. But, there is also the only exception - samples of GOST 3262-75 in modern industry are usually measured by the inner diameter. Such models are designated by the symbol Du.
What are provided by state standards dimensions of stainless pipes, table will allow you to find out in detail.
It should be noted that according to GOST 8734-75, thin-walled and cold-deformed pipes are distinguished. In the first case, models of such dimensions are produced - 2.5 x 0.3; 4.0 x 0.2; 10 x 4.0; 16 x 2.0; 20 x 3.0; 22 x 1.5; 38 x 1.0; 40 x 2.0; 60 x 1.8. As for hot-deformed samples, here the standard provides for the production of pipes, the parameters of which are - 23 x 5.0; 26 x 4.0; 40 x 5.0; 48 x 6.0; 57 x 2.8; 60 x 4.5; 68 x 4.0; 75 x 5.0; 85 x 9.0; 102 x 10; 120 x 6.0; 133 x 3.0 160 x 4.5; 180 x 10.
According to experts, it is best to use pipes with a standard diameter in production. Stainless steel pipe, dimensions according to GOST which belongs to such a category, allows you to work as simply as possible. If you have information about what the diameter is, then you can select all the necessary elements without any problems - plugs, transitions, fittings, and so on. In addition, the diameter will allow you to calculate weight, size. The pipe is stainless, taking into account all these parameters, it will be as effective as possible.
If the same diameter is noted, then the throughput of stainless models will be an order of magnitude higher than in the case of steel samples. All pipes according to the current standard are divided into three large groups - small, medium and large.
The first category includes those models whose diameter exceeds 50, namely - 59, 89, 108, 114, 159. Pipes of medium diameter are already correspondingly large. As a rule, there are models with sizes - 219, 325, 377, 530. There are other samples, but they are not used so often for one reason or another. And finally, the dimensions of large diameter stainless pipes are 630,820,1220,1620. It should be noted that according to the standard, there are no restrictions. That is, it is quite realistic to purchase pipes of larger sizes than those listed above.
Weight of a running meter of stainless pipe directly depends on the diameter. The mass is calculated, taking into account the grade of the metal used in the production. With information regarding the mass of the pipe, you can easily translate such data into length. The approximate weight of a running meter of stainless steel pipes is indicated in the corresponding GOST.

Classification
Stainless steel pipes differ in geometric characteristics depending on the diameter and shape of the pipe section, as well as the type of surface treatment. In cross-sectional shape, pipes can be round, square and rectangular. According to the type of processing, they are divided into:
- Matte
- Sanded
- Polished
The pipe wall thickness makes it possible to divide stainless pipes into thick-walled with high strength and thin-walled. Thin-walled pipes are characterized by high flexibility, therefore they are necessary for the manufacture of complex structures.
Chimney stainless steel
Chimneys contain an extremely harsh environment. These are poisonous gases, condensates with acid deposits, soot. All this affects any material from which the chimney is made. There is little choice here. You can use a pipe one and a half centimeters thick. But here you need to understand that it will take enormous efforts to install such a chimney. In addition, you will need serious masonry that will be able to withstand such power. Or you can simply use a stainless steel pipe, the thickness of which is no more than one millimeter.
Stainless steel pipes have recently begun to be used not only for plumbing systems. They are used as a decorative material for the manufacture of handrails. When combined with chrome plating, the stainless steel looks beautiful and lasts a very long time.
It is worth noting that these are not all areas of application for stainless steel pipes. However, this is enough to understand how popular the material is, which is an alternative to steel pipes and plastic.
Application of stainless steel pipes
Pipes today are indispensable in various fields: in the food industry, in mechanical engineering, in the petrochemical and mining industries, etc. They are used for laying utility lines and pipelines transporting, among other things, aggressive gases and liquids.
Passat LLC supplies seamless and welded stainless steel pipes, round and profile sections.

Determination of the price for the example of stainless steel pipe 100 mm
The cost per meter of a running pipe made of stainless steel can be determined by the following expression:
- Цпмpipe = Цкг х (Dн-δ) х δ х ρst / 1000 (1), where:
- Ckg - the price of 1 kg of pipe, RUB / kg
- Dн - outer diameter of the pipe, mm
- δ - wall thickness, mm
- ρst - density of steel
And, accordingly, the price of one product (pipes of a given length) can be determined:
- Price of 1 pipe = CPMT x l (2), where
- l - pipe length, m
There is a stainless steel pipe 100, wall thickness 6 mm made of steel 12X18H10T. The length of the pipe is 6 m. The density of this steel grade is 7.9 g / m3. The price of one kg is 349 rubles. It is necessary to determine the cost of this pipe. First, we will determine the cost of one running meter of pipe using the expression (1).
- PM pipe price = 349 x 3.14 x (100-6) x 6 x 7.9 / 1000 = 4882.71 rubles
Now let's calculate by expression (2) the price of the 1st pipe 6 m long.
- Price of 1 pipe = 4882.71 x 6 = 29 296, 26 rubles

Demanded assortment of stainless steel pipes
Stainless pipes according to GOST-9941 81
This standard, validated in the mid-1980s, describes seamless cold- and heat-worked tubular products manufactured from general purpose corrosion-resistant steel. The diameter (outer) of these pipes ranges from 5 to 273 mm, their walls are 0.20-21 mm thick.
Tubular products are manufactured in standard (5-7 meters), as well as multiple measured and unmeasured lengths. The standard is quite loyal to consumer requirements for corrosion-resistant products, therefore it allows their production with a length of 0.5-15 m. True, the manufacture of all non-standard tubular products by the plant must be previously agreed with the customer.
It must be said that in one batch of manufactured products of unmeasured length, pipes can be found:
- 0.5-0.75 meters (walls are less than 0.5 millimeters);
- 0.75-1.0 meters (walls 0.50-1.0 mm);
- 0.75-1.5 meters (when their wall is indicated with a thickness of more than 1 millimeter).
In a batch of rolled pipes with these dimensions, there can be no more than 6%. All corrosion resistant pipes are classified into high, normal and high precision products. Taking this indicator into account, the following deviations (limiting) of pipe products along the wall thickness are permissible:
- 0.05-0.15 millimeters (normal accuracy);
- 0.03-0.10 millimeters and from -11% to + 12.4% (increased accuracy);
- from -11% to + 12.4% (high precision products).
Outside diameter pipes can have permissible error from 0.15 millimeters (high precision) up to 0.4 millimeters (normal) or 0.7-1.3%. For pipes made of 06XH28 MDT steel with a cross section of more than 30 millimeters, a deviation of 1.2% is possible, a cross section of less than 30 millimeters is 0.45 mm.
Requirements for cold and heat-worked stainless pipes
The ends of the finished pipeline are cut off (the cut angle is straight), burrs are removed from them, which can lead to the formation of a chamfer and the formation of surface roughness.This is allowed by regulatory documents. Sometimes even customers negotiate with the manufacturer the need for chamfering at the ends of pipe products, where walls more than 5 mm, since it makes it possible to make the connection of the pipeline with the help of welding more efficiently and efficiently.
On any 1 meter segment, a stainless pipe can have the following curvature characteristics:
- 1 millimeter (walls are more than 0.50 millimeters, cross-section is more than 5 millimeters);
- 2 millimeters (pipes with walls up to 0.50 millimeters and a cross section of 15 millimeters).
If we consider structures with walls less than 0.50 cm with a cross section of up to 1.5 cm, then there is no special tolerance in GOST for this case. The main thing is that the products are made without sharp bends. The ovality of rolled pipes should be such that the diameter of the products does not go beyond the permissible errors in the value of their outer diameter.
The described products are made of stainless steel of these steel grades: 17Х18Н9, 08ХН28МДТ, 08Х17 Н15М3Т, 12Х18 Н12Т, 10Х23 Н18, 08Х18 Н10Т, 04Х18 Н10, 10Х17 Н13М2Т, 08Х13, 12Х17, 12Х18 Н10, 08Х22 Н6Т, 12Х13, 15Х25 Т, and some other high-alloyed metals. The density level of these alloys ranges from 7.6-7.97 g / cm. cubic meters, regarding the temporary resistance - 37-587 kgf / mm. sq. and elongation - 16-46%.
These steel grades can include a small addition of rare-earth metals in the composition, and at the same time meet all 5632 standards. Much attention is paid to the presence of sulfur in products, it cannot be more than 0.02%. Finished pipe products are heat-treated.
