"Polispen" is an extruded polystyrene foam produced by extrusion from general purpose polystyrene. Polispen slabs and products made from them are effective thermal insulation for enclosing structures in civil and industrial construction, agriculture and the refrigeration industry, for structures of railways, highways, airport runways and oil and gas pipelines.
The material is obtained by mixing polystyrene granules at elevated temperature and pressure with the introduction of a blowing agent and subsequent extrusion from the extruder.Mixtures of light freons are used as a blowing agent. Freons used for the production of Polispen boards belong to the group of non-toxic and non-combustible. After the production of the boards, the remaining blowing agent is replaced in the cells relatively quickly by the ambient air.
The process of extrusion of polystyrene is achieved by obtaining a material with a homogeneous structure, consisting of small closed cells with a size of 0.1-0.2 mm. The cellular structure of the material provides almost zero water absorption, low thermal conductivity, high resistance to water vapor pressure (diffusion).
Slabs "Polispen" are intended for thermal insulation of the enclosing structures of buildings and structures. In the manufacture of this brand, fire retardants are introduced into the feedstock, which significantly increases its resistance to combustion. Plates "Polispen" according to their fire-technical characteristics correspond to materials that are slightly combustible, hardly combustible, with a high smoke-generating ability. Extruded polystyrene foam, like wood, emits practically only two types of gases during combustion (CO - carbon monoxide, CO2 - carbon dioxide), in contrast to a number of organic materials that emit a complex of substances harmful to human health.
The thermal conductivity coefficient of the plates is 0.028-0.03 W / (m -C), which is significantly lower than the average values for most other insulating materials.
Water absorption is one of the most important characteristics of a thermal insulation material. When completely immersed in water, the cells located on the surface, destroyed during the manufacture of samples, are rather slowly filled, and after filling them, water does not penetrate into the material. Low water absorption of the material provides a slight change in thermal conductivity in humid conditions. This allows the use of Polispen slabs in floor structures. roofs, foundations and basements without additional waterproofing.
Plates, which are mainly used in the insulation of the enclosing structures of residential and industrial buildings and structures, are produced with additives of fire retardants, which increases their resistance to combustion.
Extruded polystyrene foam is also characterized by high resistance to water vapor pressure. The tests carried out have shown that extruded polystyrene foam retains its thermal and physical characteristics after repeated freezing and thawing at temperature and humidity effects, taking into account the safety factor, is at least 50 years.
Extruded polystyrene foam Polispen is an environmentally friendly material, chemically inert by nature, not subject to decay. You can work with it in any weather conditions without any means of protection from atmospheric precipitation. The boards are easy to handle (cut well using a conventional knife) and are extremely easy to assemble. The operating temperature range for slabs is from -50 to +75 C. In this temperature regime, all physical and thermal technical characteristics of the material remain unchanged.
